From all of us here at the RCN Foundation, we want to say a sincere thank you to all of you out on the frontline caring for the nation’s health during this international crisis.
As a charity solely dedicated to championing the nursing team, the RCN Foundation remains more committed than ever to fulfilling our purpose of supporting and strengthening nursing to improve the health and wellbeing of the public. We wanted to let you know the ways we can help nurses, midwives and nursing support workers during this difficult and unprecedented time. Remember, you do not need to be an RCN member to access any of the support we are offering below.
RCN Foundation COVID-19 Support Fund
In addition to our ongoing support, we have established a COVID-19 Support Fund which responds directly to the challenges faced by nurses, midwives and health care support workers and provide them with extra support as they carry us through this international emergency. The Fund specifically covers practical support for frontline health care staff as well as psychological support during the crisis.
Please note that the RCN Foundation COVID-19 Support Fund is currently closed due to unprecedented demand. Our grants team is still processing applications that have already been received and you will hear from us if you have been successful. Please keep checking our website and follow us on one of our social channels for further updates.
Hardship grants
We continue to provide our hardship grants for those facing financial difficulties, which are administered by the RCN’s Lamplight Support Service. If you think you need help for any reason, please visit the
hardship grants section of our website for contact information. During the current COVID-19 outbreak, we are looking at ways to ensure that those who need help urgently, are able to receive it as quickly as possible. We are therefore looking at how we can streamline our application process to respond more quickly to requests for help.
Research and development grants
We accept research and development grant applications on a speculative basis for UK-based organisations looking to fund nursing-led projects. If you are developing a project that responds to the COVID-19 global crisis, please email grants@rcnfoundation.org.uk to discuss how the RCN Foundation might be able to help.
We hope you are keeping well and staying safe during this challenging time. Please do get in touch with any questions or concerns. Thank you again for all you do for patients and the nursing team.
