The Foundation awarded the RCN £130,000 to fund the Celebrating Nursing Practice project.
The aim of the project was to enable nursing staff to develop and disseminate innovations in nursing practice that will deliver tangible benefits to the health of the public. Every day across the UK nursing staff are making service improvements that change how patients and communities access and receive care, the project celebrates, showcases and develops these local innovations. Projects were selected from within the UK to receive the support of an RCN mentor and other RCN resources. The scope of each piece of work was dependent on the project itself. Examples include, helping the nursing staff behind the ideas publish a news story or feature in the nursing press, present an abstract for a conference, meet decision-makers, or host a fringe event at RCN Congress. The RCN have taken four of these ideas further, developing them to their fullest potential.
