RCN Foundation COVID-19 Support Fund
Right now, thousands of nurses, midwives and healthcare support workers across the UK are at the forefront of battling COVID-19.
That’s why we launched our COVID-19 Support Fund in April to respond directly to the challenges faced by frontline nursing and midwifery staff.
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our supporters, to date, the RCN Foundation has already helped 2,800 nursing and midwifery staff, providing just over £1.2M in grants through our COVID-19 Support Fund and the Stelios Says Thank You Awards
As a charity solely dedicated to championing the nursing and midwifery teams, the RCN Foundation remains more committed than ever to fulfilling our purpose of supporting and strengthening nursing to improve the health and wellbeing of the public.
In these unprecedented times, the nursing community is facing significant challenges, not only in continuing to provide excellent patient care on the frontline, but potentially facing personal hardship and the significant psychological implications of the crisis.
This urgent Fund covers:
Support for frontline health care staff
The RCN Foundation COVID-19 Support Fund is here to provide grants to members of the nursing and midwifery community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Funding is available to members of the nursing and midwifery community who are or have been working on the frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic and have been financially adversely affected by the crisis, including nurses, midwives and health care assistants.
Psychological support during the crisis
The mental health and wellbeing of nurses, midwives and health care support workers has always been a key priority for us. We are already hearing from nurses, particularly those based in intensive care units (ICU), about the psychological impact of being on the frontline of the Covid-19 crisis, and we expect to see this situation worsen over time. Working with our partners, we will ensure the workforce receives the mental health and wellbeing support it needs during this sustained crisis.
COVID-19 is not a short-term challenge facing the healthcare system – so our aim is to ensure that we provide long-term and sustained support for the nursing community.
The RCN Foundation COVID-19 Support Fund is currently closed due to unprecedented demand.
Our grants team is still processing applications that have already been received and you will hear from us if you have been successful.
